Final Reflection

One Last Time

This is officially one of my last few blog posts for the year! The eight weeks honestly flew by and I can't believe that this is it: my film opening is done, my creative critical reflections are fully edited, and I'm getting ready to say goodbye to this project once and for all.

For this project, I worked by myself and though it was slightly challenging to do everything by myself and I definitely let myself procrastinate way too many times, I don’t think I would have preferred to work with a group for this project. I tend to work more efficiently and quickly by myself, even when I do procrastinate and after hearing everyone in the group meeting say they had troubles with scheduling, working in a group seemed much more challenging, even if it came with its benefits. Additionally, I made a lot of changes to my original plan and I feel like working in a group would’ve made making those changes harder. Everyone would’ve had to agree on the change, we’d have to make adjustments to the recommended change, and it would take up much more of our time than needed.

The major change that I had to make was to my schedule. Originally, I was going to have that last week be my free week where I could fix and update anything that needed changes, however, due to my procrastination I spent that week actually finishing up my project, rather than fixing it. Another change I made to my project was my genre. My first plan was to do a thriller or romance, but after further consideration I decided to do a coming-of-age film. Mainly because it was honestly the one I was most familiar with, which is why it’s kind of weird that I didn’t think of it first. Nonetheless, that was another one of my major changes.

This project taught me so much and I’m extremely grateful that I was given the chance to do it, even if I won’t be pursuing this type of career in the future. This class was also incredibly helpful, not just for this project, but for life. So I’m very glad that I was able to take it.
